๐ Child and teen sessions
What age is the child track for?+
The child and teen track is designed for ages 9 to 18. The language is warm, simple, and age-appropriate โ Nova speaks like a kind, steady guide, not a clinical tool.
Does my child need to know how to do EFT already?+
No. Nova guides them through everything. The app includes a full tapping points reference, and Nova explains what to do at each step. First-time users typically feel comfortable within one session.
What is the monthly password?+
The monthly password is a simple word and number combination (like 'Calm123') that children enter before starting a session. It exists to ensure a parent or teacher knows the child is using the app. You receive the monthly password in your membership welcome email and in our monthly newsletter.
Can my child use it on their own?+
Yes โ that's the point. The method is designed to be used independently from age 9. Parents are encouraged to sit with younger children for the first few sessions, but the app is fully self-guided.
What happens if my child writes something concerning?+
Nova has crisis detection built in. If the journal entry contains language suggesting serious distress, self-harm, or crisis, she pauses the tapping session and displays crisis support resources โ including Childline, Samaritans, and Shout.
๐ฟ Parent sessions
Why is there a parent track?+
Children's nervous systems co-regulate with their parents. When a parent is anxious, overwhelmed, or dysregulated, their child's nervous system picks that up โ even without words. The parent track exists because regulation has to start at the top of the household.
How is the parent track different from the child track?+
The language and framing are completely different. The parent track uses adult vocabulary and addresses parental concerns โ worry about your child, guilt, overwhelm, helplessness, exhaustion. The co-regulation message is woven throughout: when you settle, your whole home feels it.
What happens after a parent session is complete?+
At the end of a parent session, Nova gently suggests opening a child session โ the natural next step once you're settled and regulated. This is the full co-regulation loop: parent first, then child.
โฆ About EFT tapping
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is a self-help method that involves gently tapping on specific acupressure points on the body while focusing on a distressing thought or feeling. It has been shown in clinical research to reduce cortisol, calm the amygdala (the brain's fear centre), and reduce the intensity of distressing memories.
Is EFT safe for children?+
Yes. EFT is a gentle, non-invasive self-help technique. It does not involve reliving trauma in detail, does not require the child to fully articulate what is wrong, and can be stopped at any time. The Journal Tapping Method is a self-help tool โ it does not replace professional mental health care.
Why do the scripts focus on the negative?+
This is one of the most common questions. When you try to say positive things while still emotionally charged, your brain rejects them as untrue โ it knows you're not fine. EFT works by fully acknowledging the negative first, which sends a calming signal: 'yes, this is real, and you are still safe.' Only once the emotional charge drops is the brain ready to receive more neutral or positive language.
How quickly does it work?+
Results vary, but many users experience a significant drop in SUDS within a single session. Children are often particularly responsive. The SUDS tracking makes progress visible in real time.
No. The Journal Tapping Method is a self-help EFT tool. It does not provide clinical advice, diagnose conditions, or replace professional mental health support. If you or your child are experiencing serious mental health difficulties, please seek support from a qualified professional.
